Fil coupé is a woven fabric technique used to create delicate, textured patterns with a light, airy feel. 

In this method, additional threads are introduced during weaving to form a design—such as small florals, dots, or abstract motifs. After weaving, these extra threads are cut (clipped) away on the reverse side, leaving a slightly raised pattern on the face of the fabric and short, loose ends on the back.
